Heresy Hunters vs the Holy Spirit
HERESY HUNTERS vs THE HOLY SPIRIT (# 13)
The 2024 Cessationist Conference was held at First Baptist Church, Mustang Oklahoma. During a Q&A session the eight conference lecturers – Justin, Jim, Conrad, Josh, Michael, Tom, Michael # 2, and Scott– were lined up along the spacious stage. Seemingly all eight could be dubbed heresy hunters. If given opportunity I would have asked the eight, all dressed like proud peacocks in their suits and ties, the following questions….
*** How can you consider yourselves New Testament christians if you ignore and disavow so many NT precedents?
*** Assuming you believe NT writings are “given by inspiration of God, and are profitable for doctrine”, how can you reconcile your NT-plus and NT-minus doctrines with the words of Jesus, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away”?
*** You have stated that, unlike extreme cessationists, you do not disavow many NT giftings. Tell me, when was the last time any of you prayed and sang “with the Spirit” (in tongues)? Or witnessed “signs and wonders” in your assemblies? Or, through Christ, healed the blind and deaf and crippled?
*** If you consider Jesus to be the real “head of the church” how can you talk of church concerns while rarely referencing Him?
*** Would your people be better prepared to meet Judge Jesus at His judgment seat if they imitated Paul (Paul: “Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ”) or if they imitated you?
*** How can you justify the awful evangelical tithe that has zero NT endorsement while rejecting gifts of the Spirit that do have NT endorsement?
So that’s just a few questions I would have asked if given the opportunity. What questions would you have asked?
