Proverbs 13:13: He who despises the word will be destroyed.
This proverb is a promise.
It is a promise from God to you, delivered to you by means of the Bible.
If you despise God’s word you will surely be destroyed.
Because only God’s word can save you from the destruction just ahead. What destruction? This destruction will be all too apparent the moment you enter a Christless eternity.
Despising God’s word is saying to God that you do not consider His words worth heeding.
That His words are of little value. That they cannot be trusted. That you would rather place your trust in the words of another.
Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
God’s promise to you will come to pass; you will surely be destroyed if you despise His words.
