Jesus Christ vs the Evangelical Tithe
# 8: Evil should be called evil. That word, “evil”, is rarely spoken or written.
Yet the New Testament records the word “evil” about 100 times, and the Old Testament more than 300 times. Lord Jesus spoke that word often. All this to say…. something is wrong! Evil should be called evil.
Love-of-money always gives birth to evil. The New Testament records the devouring of widows’ houses by religionists. And those religionists encouraged their people to redirect resources from needy parents to themselves. (See Matthew 15)
Within evangelicalism, love-of-money has likewise given birth to evil, and that evil should be called…. evil.
Redirecting funds Lord Jesus intended for His Great Commission is evil. All religions – religion being an assortment of various “commandments of men” – are evil. The non-biblical pastor’s salary – which elevates him above his spiritual siblings – is evil. Twisting Scripture to enrich the collection plate is evil. Evil, evil, evil.
