Q and A: Can We Love Too Much?
Q: Well, can we love too much?
A: Yes.
Q: What is too much?
A: Loving someone more than Jesus.
Q: Do many love ‘too much’?
A: Most love someone (or something) more than Jesus.
Q: But how do you know that?
A: The Lord gave me eyes to see and ears to hear.
Q: What do you see? What do you hear?
A: I see and hear apathy toward Jesus Christ.
Q: Is that because we love some people or things too much?
A: Yes.
Q: But doesn’t Jesus command us to love others?
A: No person is to replace our “first love”, the Lord Jesus.
Q: Does that happen often?
A: Yes. Spouses, children, friends, etc. These become idols.
Q: Idols?
A: An idol is a false god.
Q: Like the golden calf?
A: Yes, like the golden calf.
Q: What is the answer?
A: Gazing upon Christ.
Q: Like really? That simple?
A: Setting a gaze upon our Christ melts our golden calves.
